Microsoft, quier que usuarios de Gmail se pasen a Hotmail

Desde la aparición de Gmail (y luego, de Google Apps), Microsoft y Google tienen una de sus mayores luchas por el mercado del correo electrónico. Aunque Hotmail se mantiene como líder mundial en número de usuarios, parece que la creciente popularidad de Gmail se ha convertido en un reto para el gigante del software. A través de su blog oficial, Dharmesh Mehta, director de Producto de Windows Live, elaboró un escrito en el que Microsoft pide a los usuarios dar una oportunidad a Hotmail abandonando Gmail por completo. “Hemos empezado a ver que algunas personas hacen el cambio de Gmail a Hotmail, y lo que queremos compartir con ustedes es cómo hacerlo”, agregó.

Para no quedarse corto en argumentos y que los usuarios se convenzan de hacer el cambio, el ejecutivo de Microsoft dio a conocer cuatro razones principales por las que las personas deben darle otra oportunidad al que fue por muchos años el servicio más popular de correo electrónico, pero que con el surgimiento de Gmail a mediados de la década pasada perdió el liderazgo en cuanto a innovación y calidad.

• Hotmail y Facebook trabajan bien juntos. Se puede hacer una actualización de estado de Facebook, chatear con los amigos, observar sus actualizaciones y hacer comentarios desde la bandeja de entrada del correo electrónico, algo que no puede hacerse desde Gmail.
• Se pueden compartir fotos y archivos de gran tamaño fácilmente. Hotmail permite compartir cientos de fotos y otros archivos en un mensaje usando el servicio integrado online de SkyDrive. Esto no puede hacerse desde Gmail.
• Hotmail funciona muy bien con Office.
